Benifits of LED Lighting

Extremely Long Life
Most LED bulbs are rated for 50,000 hours or more. Consequently, an LED bulb will last:
o 17.1 years when used 8 hours/day
o 8.6 years when used 16 hours/day
o 5.6 years when used 24 hours/day
As a result of their long life, you change LED bulbs less frequently, giving you a substantial savings in labor. In addition, with LED bulbs, you get the bulb's actual, rated life; with filament-type bulbs (including fluorescent tubes and compact fluorescents, incandescents, and halogens), every time the bulb is cycled on and off, the bulb's life is shortened due to the filament's loss of metal.
Energy Savings
LEDs use a small percentage of the energy required by regular light bulbs. For example, you can replace a 50 watt MR16 bulb with a 6 watt LED bulb. The LED bulb will save you 88% in energy usage.
Low Heat Output
Because LEDs are extremely efficient, almost all of the energy consumed is converted into light. And, because so little heat is generated, the heat load for AC systems is greatly reduced. Besides the savings in energy, lighting fixtures last much longer by not being exposed to a constant high-heat source.
Easy Disposal
LEDs are environmentally friendly. They don't contain harmful materials and can be disposed of in a normal manner. Fluorescents (including compact fluorescents) contain mercury and require “Hazardous Material” handling when disposed of.
Durability
LEDs do not have a filament-they are 100% solid state material encapsulated in epoxy resin. As a result, LEDs are resistant to shock, vibration, and extreme temperature.
No UV
LEDs do not radiate UV. This makes them safe for archival applications, such as galleries and museums.
